Built to be maintained, not just launched

Plenty of agencies will build you something impressive and disappear. We build things we are going to be supporting for years, so they are simple, documented, hosted sensibly and written in tools your own staff can understand.

Most of what we build is not glamorous: a website that loads fast and is easy to update, a small internal app that replaces a spreadsheet three people fight over, or an integration that stops someone retyping orders from one system into another. That is where the return is.

What we build

Business websites

WordPress sites that are fast, secure, accessible and easy for your staff to edit - like this one. Design that matches your brand, hosting in New Zealand, SSL, backups, and a maintenance plan so plugins and core stay patched. Landing pages, forms that reach the right inbox, and basic search visibility done properly.

Internal tools and small applications

Job boards, booking systems, asset registers, quoting calculators, customer portals. Built on Microsoft Power Apps where it fits, or as a lightweight web app where it does not. Designed around how your people actually work.

Integrations and APIs

Connecting the systems you already own: Xero or MYOB to your job system, your website forms to your CRM, your print fleet to your billing. Data flows once, in one direction, and errors get reported rather than silently dropped.

Automation scripts and reporting

Scheduled jobs that pull data together, produce the Monday report, or tidy up user accounts. Power BI dashboards on top of the data you already have.

Hosting, maintenance and support

Everything we build comes with a support option. Hosting on New Zealand infrastructure, monitoring, patching and a helpdesk that knows the code because we wrote it.

How a project runs

  • Scope in plain English. A written brief describing what it does, who uses it, and what "done" looks like, agreed before any building starts.
  • Fixed quote for fixed scope. Changes are welcome; they are quoted rather than absorbed and argued about later.
  • Show early, show often. You see working software within weeks, not a reveal at the end.
  • You own it. Code, content, domain and hosting accounts are in BDL's name only where you ask us to hold them. Documentation is handed over.
  • Security by default. Sign-in through your Microsoft 365 accounts where possible, sensible permissions, and no passwords in spreadsheets.

Good fit if...

  • Your website is slow, dated or hard to update
  • A spreadsheet has become a system
  • Staff retype data between two programs
  • An old custom app has nobody left to support it
  • You want one supplier for the build and the support

Common questions

Do you only build in WordPress?

For marketing websites, usually, because it is what most customers can edit themselves and what most other developers can pick up. For applications we use the Microsoft Power Platform, or standard web frameworks where a real application is needed. We choose the plainest tool that does the job.

Can you take over a site or app someone else built?

Usually. We start with a review - hosting, versions, security, how it is built - and give you an honest view of whether it is worth keeping. Sometimes the right answer is a rebuild; often it is a tidy-up and a maintenance plan.

What does a website cost?

It depends on pages, design work and integrations, so we quote each one. A straightforward business site is a fixed-price project; ongoing hosting and maintenance is a small monthly fee. See how we charge.

Do you do search engine optimisation and online advertising?

We build sites so search engines can read them properly - structure, speed, metadata, accessibility - and set up Google Business Profile and Search Console. Ongoing content marketing and paid advertising are not our trade; we will happily work alongside an agency that does that.

Tell us what you are trying to do

Describe the problem, not the solution. We will tell you whether it needs a website, an app, an integration, or just a better use of what you already have.
